Air Separation Plant with Argon Gas

Air Separation Plant with Argon Gas

Argon is mostly used as an inert shielding gas in welding and other high-temperature industrial processes where ordinarily unreactive substances become reactive; for example, an argon atmosphere is used in graphite electric furnaces to prevent the graphite from burning. Argon is also used in incandescent, fluorescent lighting, and other gas-discharge tubes. Argon makes a distinctive blue-green gas laser. Argon is also used in fluorescent glow starters.

Argon is produced by cryogenic air separation plant as a by-product. The economic capacity of air separation unit to produce argon is 80TPD. We don’t suggest users to consider argon production when the air separation plant capacity is too low, as smaller ASU plant cannot produce argon stably and the investment of added argon facility is rather high.
